Marian Douglas—Humanities Teacher
BA- Education Taylor University
Marian Douglas is excited to help PSA students hone their writing skills. She began her own writing career at Taylor University where she studied Professional Writing. While a student, Marian wrote for newspapers, community newsletters, magazines, and websites, and she also served as an editor for the Echo, Taylor’s student paper. She went to Taylor with a goal to work as an editor at a publishing house, but, while Marian loves writing and editing, she realized that being stuck in an office all day wasn’t something she wanted for her life. So, when an English teaching position opened up at a school near her family, Marian’s father, a lifelong educator, encouraged her to apply. Quickly, Marian saw that teaching gave her a more active outlet for the skills she had harnessed in college.
For the last 8 years, Marian has worked as an English teacher for students in grades 5th through 12th. She has a love for helping students hone their own voices. They all have something to say, and honing their writing skills will allow their words to be heard more effectively. Beyond the classroom, Marian has continued to write—publishing articles, writing content for websites and the schools she’s worked for, and creating the questions for a variety of academic competitions held by the Georgia Association of Private and Parochial Schools. She also works as a tutor. She currently lives with her husband, Jack, in Fishers, Indiana. She loves to write, design, and take photos in her free time.
